20th Century Fox is producing a movie adaptation of The A-Team, the famous 1980s TV series. The A-Team movie is directed by Joe Carnahan and is starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Sharlto Copley and Jessica Biel. The film is scheduled for a release om June 11, 2010.

According to writer Michael Brandt, the adaptation will be more in vein of Die Hard, The Bourne Identity, and Casino Royale. Besides the setting of the story has been updated: the plot shifts indeed from Vietnam to the Middle East.

Plot:
"A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed."

Monopoly movie directed by Ridley Scott

Hasbro and Universal Pictures are planning a movie based on the famous board game Monopoly!You have to admit that you didn't see that one coming! Well, the project is actually already under works: it has been announced that Director Ridley Scott would helm the film based on a script written by Pamela Pettler with the story developed by Frank Beddor (I suppose it means that Pettler and Beddor works together to hone the screenplay).

Producer Frank Beddor gave some plot details of this Monopoly movie during an interview with the LA Times:

"I created a comedic, lovable loser who lives in Manhattan and works at a real estate company and he’s not very good at his job but he’s great at playing Monopoly. And the world record for playing is 70 straight days – over 1,600 hours – and he wanted to try to convince his friends to help him break that world record. They think he is crazy. They kid him about this girl and they're playing the game and there’s this big fight. And he’s holding a Chance card and after they’ve left he says, ‘Damn, I wanted to use that Chance card,’ and he throws it down. He falls asleep and then he wakes up in the morning and he’s holding the Chance card, and he thinks, ‘That’s odd.

He’s all groggy and he goes down to buy some coffee and he reaches into his pocket and all he has is Monopoly money. All this Monopoly money pours out. He’s confused and embarrassed and the girl reaches across the counter and says, ‘That’s OK.’ And she gives him change in Monopoly money. He walks outside and he’s in this very vibrant place, Monopoly City, and he’s just come out of a Chance Shop. As it goes on, he takes on the evil Parker Brothers in the game of Monopoly. He has to defeat them. It tries to incorporate all the iconic imageries -- a sports car pulls up, there's someone on a horse, someone pushing a wheelbarrow -- and rich Uncle Pennybags, you're going to see him as the maître d' at the restaurant and he's the buggy driver and the local eccentric and the doorman at the opera. There's all these sight gags."

I frankenstein is an upcoming fantasy action movie directed by Patrick Tatopoulos based on a script by Kevin Grevioux (who brought us the Underworld movie series). The film is actually the movie adaptation of an upcoming graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. It’s modern take on the tale of Frankenstein. Star Paul Walker said this week, “I’ve spoken with executives at Universal at this point and they’re pretty serious about it. They’re developing it. They know where they want it to take place. They want to do it in Europe.”

Would Walker be a part of it? “I don’t know,” he said. “I’d really want to put time into it. I don’t think it’d be too hard to make the best one yet. I don’t think the best one has been made yet. If we were to go make a 5th one it would be the best one. Otherwise let’s not do it.”

Originally the 4th movie was only meant to have Vin Diesel in it, Walker was asked back late in the day, and it’s Diesel who sounds much keener to do another. “I know Vin is in there already [thinking about the script],” says his co-star.

Diesel explains he originally wanted to make the 4th and 5th films back to back “but [Universal] was like, ‘What? We’re just getting our feet back together…’” Diesel was allowed to direct an 18 minute short film set in the Fast And Furious world, which will be available on the DVD.

Update (4/16/09) – Now the film has been released and is a huge financial success, Paul Walker is sounding much more certain about coming back, he also adds that the studio is now leaning toward Brazil for the next one. That’s not to say Europe wouldn’t come after that.

Google acquired EtherPad's creator, AppJet, earlier this month to add AppJet's technology and team to Google Wave, a real-time, hosted collaboration application that combines e-mail, instant messaging and document sharing.
At the time, Google announced that the hosted versions of EtherPad would be shut down at the end of March, triggering an outcry from users.
Google subsequently decided to release EtherPad's code as open source, so that anyone could install it on their own servers. That code is now available for download.
"Our goal with this release is to let the world run their own EtherPad servers so that the functionality can live on even after we shut down etherpad.com," wrote Aaron Iba, former AppJet CEO, on Thursday in an official blog.
In fact, those with entrepreneurial inclinations could even take the EtherPad code and offer the application in a Web-hosted fashion to others, just like AppJet does today, he wrote.
Before the Google acquisition, AppJet offered EtherPad in three versions: a hosted "Free" starter edition; a hosted "Professional" edition priced at US$8 per user per month; and a "Private Network" edition priced at $99 per user and designed to be downloaded to on-premise customer servers.
Initially, Google said it would stop charging for the Professional accounts and stop accepting new EtherPad accounts, but then it also backtracked on the latter decision. However, Iba wrote on Friday that a spike in EtherPad sign-ups after the Google acquisition has overloaded its servers, causing recurrent downtime at EtherPad.com.
"We are doing our best to keep the site up and running, but it's clear that we will not be able to do so indefinitely. Our plan remains to discontinue the hosted service completely by March 31st, 2010. New public pad creation may need to be shut down sooner, depending on whether traffic continues to grow or taper off," Iba wrote.
AppJet provides ways for users to export data in EtherPad "pads". Google will honor support commitments for Private Network customers but will not renew those contracts once they expire.
Google Wave, announced in May and still in limited release, has garnered a lot of attention because of its potential to disrupt consumer and enterprise collaboration software by consolidating elements from various applications in a single interface.
However, the jury is still out on whether users will embrace Wave or be confused by it, relegating it to the industry's bin of clever and bold ideas that never caught on.

How to Install Chrome OS From A USB Drive

Have you already tried Chrome OS using a virtual machine, and were less than impressed? Well now you can get a feel for how Google's Web-centric operating system will run natively on your machine. The folks over at Engadget were able to boot Chromium OS -- the open source version of what will become Chrome OS -- off of a USB stick on a Dell Vostro A90 netbook. The USB bootable disc is based on the Chromium OS build of Twitter user Hexxeh, who set up a Web site where you can view all the instructions you need for getting your bootable USB up and running.
If you're ready to get your hands dirty and try out the new OS, here's what you need to know:
Get the Torrent
Before you do anything, you're going to need to download the Hexxeh's Chromium OS build. You can find a torrent link on Hexxeh's Website or you can use the mirror links found here and here courtesy of Engadget.
Set Up Your USB Stick
Hexxeh has some easy instructions for writing your Chromium OS image onto a USB stick. The instructions for Windows and Linux look pretty straightforward, but Mac users are going to have a slightly more complicated time.

Pick Your Machine
A major problem with Chromium OS right now is that its device drivers are in the very early stages of development. That means some parts of your computer may not respond when using Chromium OS. One of the most common problems being reported is the lack of Wi-Fi functionality. So you may have to use an Ethernet connection instead. You should also know there's no guarantee the OS will boot up at all.
If you're in the market for a netbook or laptop, and you plan on experimenting with Chromium, check out Google's list of devices that are known to work with the latest version of Chromium OS. The list is primarily for developers who want to work with the new OS, but there's no reason you can't use it as a buying guide. The device index features a sortable checklist that lets you know if the Wi-Fi and trackpad functions are working, as well as general comments and warnings specific to each device.
For example, you might want to stay away from the Asus Eee PC 900 if you plan to run Chrome right now. The netbook's Wi-Fi is supposed to work, but the device's fans may not run, which could cause your system to overheat. Other Wi-Fi-ready devices, according to Google's list, are the Toshiba mini NB205, and the Asus Eee PC 1008HA. The Lenovo ThinkPad T400 may also work after upgrading the Wi-Fi firmware. But before you go out and spend money on a new computer, read over Google's hardware list to make sure you are fully aware of the functionality and problems for the device you have in mind.

Booting From the USB
Once you've got your computer, and have gone through the steps of writing your bootable disc, you may find you can't get Chromium OS to boot on your Windows-based machine. If this happens, you may have to change the settings for how your machine boots up.
You can learn how to change the settings by checking out PC World's guide to installing Windows 7 on a netbook using a USB drive. The instructions are not Chromium-specific, but you should be able to figure out how to adapt this method for your purposes.
A word of warning: Changing the boot order means messing with your system's command prompt and BIOS. If that sounds scary, you might be better off picking up an official Chrome OS machine later next year. For the rest of you, let us know in the comments how Chromium is running on your netbook.

If you don't want to wait until next year to see what's going on with Chrome OS, then follow this handy guide to find all the information you need to get the new system up and running on almost any computer.

Virtual Machine
Since Chrome OS will be streamlined to work only with specific hardware components, you won't be able to just boot the new OS onto your machine. Instead, you'll need to use a virtual machine for Chrome OS. You have two choices. You can either get Virtual Box here, which has options for Windows, Mac, Solaris, and Linux systems. Or, you can download VMware Player for Windows or VMware Fusion for Mac.
If you choose the VMware Fusion for Mac option, note that you will only get a 30-day trial version. The full version of the software will cost you $79.99.

Download Chrome OS
Before you get too far ahead of yourself, you'll need to download the compiled version of Chrome OS. You can try the version from gadget Website gdgt (registration required) or a torrent from Pirate Bay. In my tests, the gdgt version did not work with Virtual Box, but this situation may change so read through gdgt's help thread later in the day before giving up on Virtual Box. Some users have also had succes using the VMware Chrome OS file inside Virtual Box.
I have not tried the torrent version of Chrome OS, but TechCrunch has and says it works. Be warned, though, the torrent version could come with malware or spyware.
If you download from gdgt, make sure you get the right version of Chrome OS for either Virtual Box or VMware.
If you're a Linux user and you don't need help installing Chrome OS you can also download a USB-bootable version from gdgt.
Once you've downloaded Chrome OS, which could take a while, make sure you unzip the file before proceeding to the next step.
Go Chrome
Once you've got Virtual Box installed and Chrome OS is unzipped, you're ready to go. (Click to enlarge the screen image.) For instructions on how to prep your virtual machine using Virtual Box, TechCrunch has a step-by-step guide for you. VMware users on Windows can follow the instructions found on this blog. These are not Chrome OS specific, but the instructions should work for your purposes.

In 2009, American geologist Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) travels to India to meet his friend Satnam, who has discovered that neutrinos from a massive solar flare have penetrated the Earth and are causing the temperature of its core to increase rapidly. Adrian returns to Washington D.C. to inform White House Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser (Oliver Platt) and US President Thomas Wilson (Danny Glover) that this will instigate a chain of events that will bring about the end of the world. At the 36th G8 summit in 2010, other heads of state and heads of government are made aware of the situation. They collaborate to begin a secret project intended to ensure the continuity of human life, strategically choosing 400,000 people for admission on a series of gigantic arks to be constructed in the Himalayas. To help fund the venture, additional individuals are allowed to purchase tickets for one billion euros apiece.

In 2012, Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) is a writer in Los Angeles who works part time as a limousine driver for Russian billionaire Yuri Karpov. Jackson's ex-wife Kate (Amanda Peet) and their children Noah and Lily live with her new boyfriend, plastic surgeon and amateur pilot Gordon. Jackson takes Noah and Lily on a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park, where they meet Charlie Frost, a radio show host and conspiracy theorist. Charlie supports a theory that suggests the Mayans predicted the world would come to an end in 2012, and claims he has knowledge of the ark project and possesses a map of the arks' location. The family returns home as cracks begin to develop along the San Andreas Fault in California and earthquakes occur in the San Francisco Bay area. Jackson grows suspicious and rents a private plane to rescue his family. He collects his family and Gordon when the Earth's crust displacement begins and they escape Los Angeles as it collapses into the Pacific Ocean.

As millions begin dying in apocalyptic earthquakes worldwide, the group flies to Yellowstone to retrieve Charlie's map. The group narrowly escapes as the Yellowstone Caldera erupts. Charlie, who stayed behind to make a live broadcast of the eruption, is killed by the blast. Realizing the arks are in China, the group lands in Las Vegas, where they meet Yuri, his twin sons, girlfriend Tamara, and pilot Sasha. They join the group and secure a larger plane, the Antonov An-225, to head across the Pacific. Also bound for the arks aboard Air Force One are Anheuser, Adrian, and First Daughter Laura Wilson. President Wilson remained in Washington D.C. to address the nation one last time. He is soon killed by a tsunami that sends the USS John F. Kennedy crashing into the White House. With the Vice President dead and the Speaker of the House missing, Anheuser appoints himself acting Commander-in-Chief.

Sasha discovers that the plane doesnt have enough fuel to get to china, so they have to make a crash landing in the ocean. But as they get near the ground, they discover that they are indeed in china. The earths crusts have shifted.

Yuri, who has purchased ark tickets for himself and his sons, deserts the Curtis family, Gordon, and Tamara upon arriving in China. However, the abandoned group is picked up by Nima, a Buddhist monk. Together, they begin sneaking onto an ark through its hydraulics chamber with the help of Nima's brother Tenzin, a welder for the ark project. In his last moments, Satnam calls Adrian to inform him that a tsunami is engulfing India and heading towards the arks. Learning of this, Anheuser orders the arks be sealed before the boarding process is complete, trapping thousands outside. Adrian manages to convince the other G8 leaders to let the remaining people on board. As the ark's tailgate is lowered, Gordon is killed when he falls in between the gears, followed by Tenzin's large electrical power drill. Yuri sacrifices his life to get his two sons on in time, but the obstruction prevents the gate from closing, rendering the ship unable to start its engines. The tsunami arrives and begins to flood the ark, drowning Tamara and setting the ark helplessly adrift. Jackson and Noah work together to free the drill and its cable from the closing mechanism. The gate closes and the crew regains control of the ark, preventing a fatal collision with Mount Everest.

A title appears that says "Day 27 Month 00 Year 00"

When the floodwater from the worldwide tsunamis eventually recedes, satellite data shows that Africa rose in relation to sea level, and its Drakensberg mountains are now the highest on the planet. As the arks set sail for the Cape of Good Hope, Jackson reconciles with his family, and Adrian starts a relationship with Laura. The movie ends with a view of the Earth revealing all continents have merged, and are in the shape of the African continent.

Peter is in police custody after being mistakenly arrested in Odessa, forcing Nathan to take time out of his Congressional campaign. Claire deals with the implications of telling her father the truth. Matt and Audrey pursue a new lead in the hunt for Sylar unaware that the killer has been captured by Mr. Bennet. Hiro and Ando arrive in Odessa, too late to "save the cheerleader." After Niki learns of Jessica's recent actions, she must make a difficult decision to keep her family safe and so she decides to get herself arrested. Mohinder takes fresh steps down his newly-chosen path by coming back to New York and continuing his fathers research. Isaac's painting of the exploding man comes into context with major consequences for the future of a certain hero, just as an even more mysterious painting is unveiled.
